Logistics & Supply Chain workflows

See the exception before it becomes a delay.

Connect shipment updates, paperwork and customer handoffs. Give every blocked movement a clear owner and keep dispatch, warehouse and support teams aligned.

  • 20–30 minute review
  • No preparation needed
  • One workflow mapped
Workflow context

How the work actually moves

Logistics operations depend on state: what moved, what is delayed, who owns the exception, and what should happen next. The first system usually connects dispatch, inventory, routes, documents, and reporting into one operating view.

Operational pressure points

Where the work breaks down

The gaps that usually create delay, rework, and unclear ownership — and where the first build path is usually found.

  1. 01

    Exceptions are discovered too late

Delays, missing documents, failed handoffs, and route changes need earlier signals.

  2. 02

    Inventory and movement data diverge

Warehouse, fleet, order, and customer systems need consistent operational state.

  3. 03

    Manual dispatch does not scale

Assignments, notifications, and rerouting need logic that still leaves room for human override.

  4. 04

    Customers need reliable status

Portals and automated updates reduce support load when the underlying data is trustworthy.

  5. 05

    Warehouse handoffs create blind spots

Pick, pack, load, transfer, and delivery states need shared visibility.

  6. 06

    Document workflows delay movement

Invoices, customs, proof of delivery, and claims need structured capture and routing.

Every gap gets
  • One visible state model for the workflow
  • Clear routing rules for routine and exception cases
  • A practical base for automation, AI support, and reporting
A practical starting point

From a daily bottleneck
to a working handoff.

Example scopes to discuss. We agree the systems, access and acceptance checks before work starts.

01

Shipment exception desk

Bring delay, shortage and damage messages into a queue your team can act on.

  1. Exception signal received
  2. Shipment and owner matched
  3. Resolution task and customer update

A shared exception history instead of scattered status requests.

02

Freight paperwork review

Prepare document information for review before it reaches the operating record.

  1. Document captured
  2. Fields checked against source
  3. Approved record or correction request

A traceable document handoff with missing information made visible.

03

Order and warehouse status

Connect agreed events across order, warehouse and customer systems.

  1. Order or movement event
  2. Mapping and duplicate checks
  3. Status updated or failure escalated

Clear ownership when systems disagree about what moved.

AI with a defined job

Useful assistance.
Clear responsibility.

Start with the information the system may use, the task it should perform, and who handles the exceptions.

Document extraction

Works from
Permitted freight documents and required field definitions
AI helps with
Prepare structured fields for a reviewer.
Review & control
Check uncertain values against the source; do not invent missing references or quantities.

Message triage

Works from
Shipment-related email or chat and available shipment context
AI helps with
Classify the issue and draft a concise operations summary.

The first engagement should leave your team with a working path and the knowledge to operate it.

What we agree before the build

Systems and access, record ownership, approval rules, failure recovery, acceptance tests and handover responsibilities. Any ongoing monitoring, maintenance or broader integration work is scoped explicitly.

Automation Sprint

Turn a defined workflow into an agreed automation scope. Review the package, deliverables and eligibility before choosing your next step.

Explore Automation SprintAsk about your project
Can you connect our WMS, TMS and carrier systems?

We assess each vendor’s supported APIs, events and account permissions before quoting. We do not assume a connection is available simply because a workflow diagram mentions it.

Are the logistics examples delivered client projects?

The items marked Illustrative adaptation apply patterns from delivered work in other sectors. Their detail pages state what has and has not been implemented. They are not presented as logistics client deployments.

Can AI process BOLs, PODs and invoices?

A scoped workflow can prepare extracted fields for review. Document formats, required fields and acceptance checks are evaluated with representative samples before implementation.

What happens when status updates fail?

The scope defines retry rules, duplicate protection, alert ownership and recovery steps. Failures should surface in an actionable queue rather than silently disappearing.

Does a document workflow include freight rates or carrier filing?

Only if explicitly agreed. Document capture or generation does not automatically include rate calculation, carrier execution, claims filing or TMS integration.
